In this article I’ll share my observations on slots behavior, how to determine if slot will let you win or will just eat as much money as you’ll feed it, it’s not a 100% strategy, but from my observations in around 85-90% of the times it will work out as described in this article. Also I mostly play low-mid volatility slots, usually they’re from EGT, Amusnet, Pragmatic, Hacksaw, Playson, AmigoGaming, CT Interactive, etc.
The strategy is pretty simple, you just need to play 50-200 spins and depending on the percentage of the loss, you’ll know if the slot will pay or eat. Another thing is that if it pays even a little bit or gets you even at some point, most likely it will start eating afterwards, so, if you’ve won something, leave immediately. Yes, sometimes it will keep juicing you, but in most cases you’ll end up losing.
The paying slots usually keep paying for some period of time, sometimes even months, but after you get your win, you’ll need to give it some time to reset, from my observations 24 hours is usually enough, but I prefer waiting for 48 hours at lest.
The Ultimate Strategy
First you choose a slot to test it, you make 50 spins, unless you win at some point, if you win, you mark it as paying and leave. If you’re down, you count the percentage, if you’re down 55-75% most likely the slot won’t pay and you better leave, if you’re down 20-50% or 80-99%, most likely you’ll get payed, in odd cases when you’re down less than 20% or all the spins were a loss, you’re most likely not getting paid aswell.
In case if the slot is in pay mode (20-50% or 80-99% loss) you spin another 50 times, making it total of 100 spins and checking loss percent with the same strategy. If you still haven’t won and the percentage is still in pay mode, you go to another 100 spins. Usually in low volatility slots you’re either up or get a loss percentage that says slot won’t pay, but if you’ve gone over 100 spins, you make 100 more spins and make sure that the loss ration didn’t go over 50%. If you’ve spunned for 200 times and lost over a 100 bet size, that means the slot won’t pay and you should quit, if you’ve lost less than 100 bets, that means that slot will most likely pay and you should keep spinning, this is the worst case, since in times when the strategy doesn’t work you might lose several hundred bets on a single slot.
There’s also a weird 33% loss option, that’s when you lose around 32-35% and it goes all along the 100 and 200 spins, most likely it will keep eating that 33% no matter how much you spin, getting you back to smaller losses but getting to 33% loss back overall overtime, so if you’ve noticed you’re losing around 33% of the wager, most likely it will keep doing that
Other signs to look at
There are few other signs that might tell you that you better leave the slot for now, they don’t work as often as a main strategy, but they better be considered:
- If you get half of the losses back at the starting 6-14 spins it’s a bad sign, slot might be an eater, so if you’ve made 8 spins and got a win of 4x, you could consider leaving slot at the start, not to risk with more bets
- Same goes if you’ve got even or close to even, let’s say you made 10 spins and got 9.7x win, that’s basically even, and if you’re even, you better get out of the slot
- In many cases if you’re losing and the slot gives you a big win, which doesn’t cover the losses, but get you close to that, you better either leave right afterwards or just give it a few more spins for the heat check
- When it’s a bonus slot, if you hit a bonus and it didn’t put you into profit, most likely the slot will eat, so you better leave right after the first bonus, the only exception is, if you’ve spunned a few hundred spins and got a very small bonus, it might give you a big one in a few spins.
Conclusion
That’s basically all that is, it won’t tell you which slot will pay before you start testing, but at least you’ll know if the slot is paying after testing and hopefully won’t lose too much, just write down which slots don’t pay, and which do, go back to the slots that pay and stay away from eaters. Paying slots periodically start eating as well, I usually give them 2 strikes, so if slot got me down twice in a row, I stop playing that slot for a substantial amount of time, and might test if it pays again in a few weeks or months on a low bet size.
