I’d like to post a few thoughts on how to choose which slots to play depending on the size of your bankroll, I’ll be talking in USD terms, but most of it can be aligned with other currencies, since it’s all about the cost of spin and how much spins you can make with your bankroll.
So, what should you bankroll size be?
For comfortable play I’d recommend 500-1000 of spins, it will give you time to survive the losing slots and find a slot that will pay you. You could go with 100 spins, with low volatility slots, but I wouldn’t recommend having less than that, since you might lose it all before you even understand if slot is paying or not.
With 100 spins, you can test a slot or two, but if you’ll get a losing slot, you’ll find yourself with too low of a bankroll, so if the slot would eventually pay, you might not get there in the end.
How to choose a slot
Most of the sites recommend to look at the RTP, but RTP matters only if you’re planning to make a million spin and want to plan how much you’ll lose, so RTP matters for casino, but not for the player, since player plays only few spins, or few hundred, or few thousand, but I don’t think someone’s going to play even 10-20 thousand spins in a single session, so RTP doesn’t matter, what matters more is volatility, with high volatility, you should get less wins, but they should be more significant, with low volatility slots, you’ll get your wins more often, but wins should be lower, that doesn’t mean that you can’t get a lower win in few spins on high volatility or get 1000x win on a low volatility slot, it’s just about what on the average you should expect from a slot.
With smaller bankroll, you should tend more towards the low volatility slots, since there’s a bigger chance you’ll get some wins along the way and get a win at some point. With 500-1000 spins bankroll, you could try the high volatility slots, usually those are the slots with bonuses, like all kinds of “Book of” slots and slots that rely on getting a bonus and a chance to get a high rewards, usually they pay 10 000x and more (theoretically), on bonus slots you often need 300-400 spins to get the bonus on the average.
Test the slots using my Ultimate Slot Strategy and find slots that will pay, after you find the slot that give wins you can farm them for some time, until they start eating your balance.
